Notebook hyperlinks w/ SharePoint

I need to create hyperlinks on a SharePoint list that open a notebook and I
cannot get the desired results.

I can create hyperlinks to the location (http://sharepoint.....) - this link
simply navigates my browser to the notebook folder and doesn't open the
notebook.

I can create a hyperlink to a section file
(http://sharepoint.....section.one) - this link opens the section only. In
the past I have been prompted if I want to open the section or the entire
notebook, but this is now gone.

I can right click an open notebook and "copy hyperlink to this notebook"
(onenote:http://sharepoint....) - this link is an invalid URL according to
SharePoint.

Could it be a file association issue on the notebook?

If you enter a hyperlink to a section file from a local OneNote notebook
into the browser, does it open the section?

I can use hyperlinks to section files, but they skip the ON prompt asking if
I'd like to open the notebook or section and just automatically opens the
section.

The protocol prefix (onenote:) is what I need to get the notebook to open...
