Number of installations and hard disk formatting

I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition which can
be installed on up to three computers. I am about to format my hard drive
and I want to know if I will be using up one of my three installations by
installing it again? How will Microsoft know that I'm using the same
computer?

No, you are not using up another of your installations.

If you have trouble activating the software because it thinks you have, use
the telephone method of activation and explain the situation to the
operator.
