Object Disabled

Mark Flynn

I've set up a Discussion Web using the wizard. This discussion web is a
sub-web.
Using the "Search for" feature gives me an "Object Disabled" result.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Mark Flynn

Sounds like you are trying to use Index catalog on a server which has it disabled

Hi Stefan:
My Internet Presence Provider activated the indexing service on their
server; but that did not work - I'm still getting the "Object Disabled"
result when I do a search on the Discussion Web.
I'm using FP 2000.
The IPP's server has FP Extensions installed. But I don't know what OS the
server is using, or if it has IIS, Apache or something else running.
Without knowing what's going on on the server side, do you have any other
immediate ideas? I can get you the server info tomorrow if you need it.
However, if you think of something in the mean time, I'll share that idea
with my IPP.
Thanks, Mark Flynn

The solution to Object Disabled may be here:

See if this makes sense to you.

To find out what OS your site is hosted on, open the site directly in FP, then go to Tools | Web /
Site Settings

Try running Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks on the live/remote site and/or re-publish the site from
your local PC to the live/remote server via FP's http mode.

Hi Thomas:
I'm still getting the "Object Disabled" result when I do a search on the
Discussion Web.
I tried Recalculating the Hyperlinks, and I republished the site from my
local PC to the live/remote server.
BTW - I can successfully do a search when running the web from my local PC.

The server is using FP Server Extensions version: 5.032.4330
Server version: Microsoft - IIS/5.0

I appreciate your suggestions, and I'll keep working on the "Object
Disabled" problem.
Also, I'll let you know what fixed the problem when it gets fixed.

See ya, Mark Flynn

If you are still getting the Object Disabled, then you host has not configure their server
correctly. You might try post to the Windows Server or Index Server newsgroups, and maybe they can
offer so idea of what to ask your web host, etc.
