New computer runs XP Prof. I have Office 2000 Prof which only goes up
through Windows 2000. Can I install this old software on XP and then buy
an
upgrade to Office 2007? Or, must I start all over with a full version of
Office? Thanks for any help!
If you have a version of Office 2000 on CD and you want to upgrade to Office
2007, be aware that the user interface is entirely different on Office 2007
than it was in 2000. The Office 2000 CD will qualify for an upgrade to
Office 2007. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx for the
qualifications list.
You do not have to install Office 2000 prior to installing the upgrade.
When you put in the Office 2007 disc and the installation starts you will be
asked to put in the Office 2000 CD (qualifying product) and then the
installation program will find the O2K CD and then tell you to put the
Office 2007 disc back in the drive.
