Office 2000 small business

When installing office 2000 small business: after the installation is complete & the computer re-boots, my computer locks up during 'finishing installation process'. I have tried 'repairing installation' under install wizard but I get an error message 'error 1500 - installation in progress'. When I try to 'uninstall 2000 small business' I get the same error message. The installation is not complete, Word or Excel does not work, 'missing files'. When ever I start my computer after shutdown I get a message 'Windows Installer-Installation not complete'. Please help
