I'm getting a new computer soon and need to transfer my copy of Office 2003 Small Business
to the new computer. Has anyone gone through this transfer process and had any problem
with the activation on the new computer. If so, can you share the workarounds employed to
get the transfer completed?
Thanks
Charlie

Don't think anyone here is going to help you transfer OEM versions of the
software to another computer or break the activation scheme for piracy
purposes.

Why do you jump to the conclusion that my copy of Office is an OEM version. I've had my
computer for 4 years and have replaced all my software with retail versions. If I had OEM
Office 2003 (which was released a few months ago and purchased by me), why would I be
replacing my computer so soon after purchase. If you can't be helpful, why take the time
to answer?

You can uninstall it from the first computer and then install it on the
second. WHen prompted, select the telephone method for activation. It takes
about 5 minutes and is completely satisfactory the one time I needed to use
it.

Hi Charlie,

The License Agreement for Office 2003 regular retail
editions is one desktop+one portable for the same user.
If you fall in that category you can use the online
activation method for the 2nd computer. If you replace
say one desktop with another desktop then you may need
to use the telephone activation method to explain your
scenario to a MS technican.

Thanks Bob,
That helps and I will use the telephone activation approach when installing. Appreciate
the input.

Bob, I've never had to use the online method for the 2nd PC. When I got
O2k3 Pro I installed on my PC, activated, installed on my notebook and it
too activated (both over the internet) just fine. The same with XP and
2000.
