Office 2003 Upgrade - XPSP3 suggested

I upgraded from Office XP Pro to Office 2003 teacher /
Student edition for my home computers. When I check for
suggested updates, the Office 2003 updates are suggested
as well as XP Service Pac 3. I checked add/remove
programs and noticed that Office XP Pro is still listed
as a program as well as other XP programs (Media, Web
Content) and Publisher 2002. Do I need to update with XP
SP 3? I'm worried this SP will somehow corrupt my 2003
version.

SP-3 will not touch your Office 2003 programs since they are specific to
Office XP.

That may be true but then immediately afterwards I could not update Office
2003 (posted previous msgs) and had problems with my restore system.

Only my opnion, but if you have Office 2003 and Office XP you meant run into
trouble like I did. You might want to set a restore point, load XPSP3,
reboot and then see if you can go to the Office web page and run Update
without error.
