Office 97 for Windows XP

Does anyone know if Office 97 Professional edition can be
successfully installed on Windows XP? If Yes, how come
my computer says the installation is complete, but when I
take the installation disk out of the drive it does not
recognize MS Word, Excel, etc... when I go the the Start
menu

Please help...

Yes. Office 97 runs perfectly well on Windows XP Home & Pro. I suggest that
you uninstall 97 and before reinstalling, make sure that you run say
Diskclean and then close ALL running programs especially any AV ones
