Office home and student 2007

Humm, really shooting in the dark now! I haven't any experience with
Office 2007 installed on Vista. The crash on close would tend to
indicate the problem may be from trying to save settings or the like.
But you say it is every Office application, not just one or two of them.
If you just open and then close the application without opening a file
cause it to crash too?
i looked at the event viewer and there doesn't seem to be anything unusual.
mind you, i'm no expert at understanding it! maybe it is just a bug that
hasn't been worked out yet?

:

Just a thought, but take a look in the Event Viewer and see if the
operating system logged any info about the errors.

R-click My Computer, select Manage, then in System Tools, Event viewer,
and look at the entries in the sub-catagories for info about the time
the errors occurred.

well, no such luck. i just finished reinstalling office and it still does the

know. thanks again for the suggestions...

It would be nice if that reveals the cause.

okay, i'll try that. thanks for your help. i'll let you know if the uninstall
works.

I wonder if uninstalling it all, and making sure the Trial version is
uninstalled too, Then freshly install only your boughten copy. I know
people frequently suffer a lot of grief when the Trial remains and the
new copy gets overlaid on it.

torechantlt wrote:

actually, now that i've thought about it, i think there was a trial version.
what are you thinking i should do?

:

You know, there just might have been. I don't remember for sure. Is that the
problem?

:

There wasn't a Trial version of Office on this PC before you installed
your copy of Home and Student was there?

Norton Internet Security, HP Photosmart (printer/scanner software). That's
all I can think of that would interact with Office. My computeris HP

installed Office, which was right after I bought the computer several months
ago. I don't have a lot of extra software installed. Can you suggest some
other kinds of software that might interact with Office?

What Add-ins or third party software that interacts with Office are you
using?

torechantlt wrote:

Yeah, I did try that a couple of times. No solution or even problem found by

I don't see any mention of you having run Microsoft Office Diagnostics.

Try that. It's found at Office button, <application name>Options, Resources.

torechantlt wrote:

it is already disabled, so that can't be the problem.

The problematic part of the A-V software is the "Office Plugin" part,
and that is what should be disabled.

oh, antivirus scanner! i'm not great with abbreviations obviously!
I've got Norton Internet Security installed. Can I not use the antivirus
software with Office 2007?

AV scanner = antivirus scanner. For example, Norton orMcAfee. Has nothing
to do with a piece of hardware.

I have an HP Photosmart C4200 series all-in-one printer/scanner. I guess it
integrates with Office. Is there a setting that will stop it fromt
integrating with Office without actually having to turnoff the scanner?

Do you have an AV scanner that integrates with Office? If yes, turn it
off!

well, it seems that Word has stopped doing it since yesterday, regardless of
whther or not a file has been opened, so maybe the reinstall worked for that.
Excel wasn't doing it in the beginning and is still not doing it. Powerpoint
is still crashing when I close the application whether I have opened a file
or not. So I am still wondering. Powerpoint is the application I use the most
these days, so it gets really frustrating!

So we are gaining on it! For Power Point are you doing anything special?
Are there any add-ins installed for it or anything like Adobe or
convertors for Projector presentations like LitePort?
