office pauses a lot

Office2000 has been giving me a lot of problems lately, when i open up a word
document and try to save it it will reeze up word for about a minute before
doing anything, also when i try to view an atachment it will lag for a minute
or two before i can view it, im thinking maybe this has something to do with
the network i am on but i have no clue on where to start with this. anyone
have any suggestions?

have you been comparing "opening times" with files on your HD vs the
server? Has the network admin be asked about this? Is network access for
files in other applications normal?
