I have four computers built with the following
asus p4s800 sis 648fx motherboard
intel p4 2.6 ghz 800bus
pc3500 ddr dimm 512mb kingmax 2.5 cas
ati radeon 7000 64mb video card
western digital 80gb ata/100 7200rpm ide harddrive
enlight 300wa case
windows 2000 sp4 and all the updates
office pro 2002 sp3
All four will have the same intermit problems list below.
the computer will hang when you open outlook and have
saved three or four word attachments to a folder.
the mouse or curser moves around the screen fine but the
program can take 2 minutes or more to close if it will
close. When I look in task manager (which also takes
forever to open) it shows the program is running and zero
processor usage and minimun memory used. And there are not
any error mesages in Event Viewer. WHen I try to shutdown
the computer it tells me that the program is not
responding and need to go through the end task proceedure
then the computer will shutdown.
When it is restarted it runs fine.
Also had the same thing happens when editing and cutting
and pasting between Word and Excel but only after a large
number of procedures.
Have tried new power supply (450) watts
Have tried new memory stick
Have current Mcafee virus scanner running
have updated all the drivers I can think of and I stll
can't stop this problem.
Anybody have any suggestions?
