Office 'shell'

How can I disable the ability for users to type in \\servername\share in the
open/save dialog boxes in Office (we're using Office 2002/2003) so that users
cannot then use this method to get to 'Entire Network' and browse the network
and it's contents?

How can I actually do this?
Which permissions do I need to change for this to work?

I have disabled network neighbourhood and entire network from explorer but
the users can still navigate to servers/shares via \\server\share in the
open/save dialogue box within ANY office app. This obviously represents a
security weakness, we've locked down the permissions on as many shares as
possible.

File permissions aren't a problem as the shares are locked down to read-only
where possible.

This is not an MS office issue. That said. If the user does NOT have
permission to read the folder server etc. they can't see it.
