Office SP1 Entourage trouble - Out of Memory Error

Stephen Mallinson

Hi All,

I have just updated my office 2008 version to the newly released SP1, this
then, I can no longer access my Inbox without getting a error message saying
ŒOut of Memory Error¹. I can access all of my other folders, i.e. Sent
Items, Spam Folder, Drafts etc etc.... This is a major problem for me, as
this is my work e-mail and I have a lot of messages in my Inbox. Has anybody
else seen this ??? I can¹t believe that this update has broken my Inbox !!!

Please help..

Regards

Steve

Did you restart and Repair Permissions after installing?

Unfortunately, the "not enough memory" error message has been known to occur
when the issue has nothing whatsoever to do with memory. i.e. it's a faulty
description on a generic error that can be triggered by all sorts of things.

Hi Dianne,

In frustration I did a database rebuild of entourage, this took forever, but
in the end, it fixed the issue.... Very strange !!!

Found the link... rebuilding now... If this is happening to lots of folks, I'd love to see MS actually post the reason why they posted an update that's breaking their customer's application. Makes one very unsure of accepting future updates.

First, please keep in mind that these newsgroups are peer-to-peer. There
isn't much we can do. The best way is to send feedback to Microsoft .

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications.

Thanks everyone for the database re-build tip. It works, but I must say that Entourage 2004 is a bit quirky at times and can be quite disconcerting!

I'm a bit reluctant to accept any future upgrades, if this sort of thing happens without warning....

Cheers.

This is a thread about Entourage 2008 SP1, but you are referring to
Entourage 2004. Did you mistype?

FWIW, this is a rare occurrence. You can always safeguard your data when
updating by archive (zip) your Identity and your Office folder. This way if
the upgrade goes south, you can revert to your previous files.

Upgrading an Identity is also rare. In Office 2004 this was done only once
and I don't even remember it happening in Office X.

This same thing happened to me also. I just did the latest update and the new version wouldn't allow me to access my inbox. Error message said "Not enough memory", which is not true. I have more than memory! So, it is obviously a glitch with Microsoft's update. Microsoft needs to fix this immediately. How do you respond Microsoft?

Never to a "me too" in a thread. Start your own subject.
