Office Still Disabled - Read Only Mode

I am using Office 2003 Professional on Windows Media Center

I just did a complete System restore on my computer for other reasons,
and now that I am re-installing Office, I am not able to access any
controls. In other words, I cannot edit any document, because the
controls are all grayed out. This is a legit version of the software. It
won't let me activate when I goto HELP>ACTIVATE PRODUCT...

When I open WORD, EXCEL, I can open a document, but I can't edit it. No
password was needed to open the file, and I don't remember putting any
of the files in READ ONLY mode.

Yeah...READ ONLY, that a better description of what's going on, I can
only read files and documents.

Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a full version of Office or the trial version? When a trial version
expires, it becomes a viewer for the various programs. You would know
because you would have had to specify that you wanted Office and paid extra
for it.

I am starting to think this is a activation problem, but anyway...when I
goto HELP>ACTIVATE, nothing happens. It doesn't hang, it just does
nothing, as if I didn't select anything at all. It does the same thing
in all applications.

This is a full, legal version. It's worked since 2003, now I did a full
restore on my computer, and it wont activate. Is there a maximum # of
activations with Office 2003?

Thanks again!
