Office Update

The Office Update service no longer scans my system for
needed updates nor retrieves the Office update history.
The first failure occurred a couple of weeks after I
downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2. No other changes
to the system. No other problems after the SP2 install.

The Windows Update service runs fine; only the Office
Update process has been affected. I don't know whether
this is a Windows or an Office issue, but decided to try
the Office newsgroup. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Does it get to about 40% and stop?
If so its detecting a previous version of office on the system and is having
problems deciding what you want to update.

Thanks for the reply. No, it doesn't just stop. It
returns a message page that says that update failed and
gives 4 suggestions why this may have happened, such
as "You may not have Administrator privileges,"
and "certain required files may be missing." I am an
Administrator on the system, and the other issues don't
seem to apply, either. Office Update used to work fine
on this system. The only major change is installation of
WinXP SP2.
