Office XP 2002 Office Docment Imaging ver 1.03

Does not open mdi file. mdi is not even in th drop down file type list.
I re-installed from orignal office cd and installed allt he updates.
Do I need a newer version and how do I get it?
Do I need to completely uninstall Office Document Imaging?

MDI files are a new format for MS Office 2003 Document Imaging.
You'll need to use TIF files if exchanging data with the
Office XP version
