Office XP Problem

I'm attempting to upgrade from Win98 to XP; the
installation seemed to go fine, but now whenever I launch
any Office apps (XP versions from a previous upgrade) I
get an install program launch and then an error message
#1706 that the file STDRET.MSI cannot be found? Any
ideas? If I cancel out, the program still starts, but
it's a bit annoying. Thanks
