OFFICE2007, PDF's and Broken Links

J

jim

I am trying to make some links work from a document into a pdf...
I am using word2007 and acrobat pro 8.
The links I am talking about are links to websites

Some links work after exported from word to pdf.
However 2 types of like are broken...
the ones that have a dash in them, for example www.bill-gates.com
and links that are too long to fit in one row...

I am new to this thing... so I dont know how to get around this problem...
is there any other product that can export word files correctly to PDFs with
all the
URLs intact?

I am in a bit of a rush here and this is slowing me down..

thanks

Acrobat 8 is not fully compliant with Office 2007. If it works at all, be
glad. Adobe is saying there will be a patch available sometime in the first
half of the year.

what other solutions are available for Office 2007? I thought at one point
MS said that they would have PDF support... what happened with that?
I am using the adobe virtual PRINTER to print as PDF.. there is no
compatibility issue
I think with that.... the comp.problems you talk about is for the toolbars
in word from adobe.

The solutions I am using now is to convert the bad urls to tinyurls with
tinyurl.com
in my document...

Its a work around....

Any other suggestions?

You can talk to Adobe about the snafu. There is a free add-in available on
Microsoft's site (I don't have a link). As for Acrobat not working - it
doesn't work for me at all in Pub 2007 and I don't use the toolbar.

In the meantime, I'm using PrimoPDF or I open my file in Pub 2003 and then
Acrobat Pro V8 is a happy camper.

OK JoAnn here is what I found out after several hours of experimenting
.... lol.. im posting it here for other people as well and for you to know in
case someone asks...

you have to save the document in compatibility mode (.DOC 97-2003) from
office2007
and THEN print it using the adobe acrobat virual printer... or else the
links are broken ...

now.... what is that plugin you taked about? any name I can search for?

thanks in advance....
