office97 installed on a windows XP professional platform

I have my original purchased copy of office 97 from my
old system. I want to install on my new Dell system
running Windows XP Professional. Are there any conflicts?
Can I upgrade office 97, once installed, to windows
officeXP or office2000? What are the issues or where can
I find the information? I'm sure I could just buy a new
copy of windows officeXP and be done with it, but that
sounds to expensive. Please reply...

There should be no issues. It works fine for me. It doesn't make sense to
pay full price if you qualify for an upgrade. Go for it.
