OL2003 & OE Receive Problems in Last Week...

....for about a week, I've had problems receiving emails. Using Windows XP
with all updates installed. I'm using POP3 and have checked all my settings
with my ISP who confirms that they are corect. They can receive emails using
my settings and web mail is fine for me, so I suspect the problem is machine
specific. My PC can connect to the POP3 server but times out (increasing the
timeout makes no difference). The error code is 0x8004210A. It makes no
difference whether I'm using OL2003 or OE. I have checked my firewall and the
port is open, but secure. Also tried disabling the firewall - no difference.
My ISP suggests I contact Microsoft - any ideas/suggestions first?

Do you have a antivirus product installed that scans pop3 email? If yes,
you might try disabling that feature or temporarily uninstall it to see if
it solves the timeout problem.

Cheers! I disabled McAfee VirusScan for emails/attachments and all is working
in OL. How odd that it should just start happening though after several
months - thanks!

Just speaks to the instability of McAfee products, IMO.

I tend to disagree. I have used AVG and Norton in the past, and had numerous
problems with both. This is the first issue I've had with McAfee - JMO of
course.
