Old Dates

Hi,

I have been working with project for quite some time now. I use an SQL
Server to store the project data. I have a simple question.

When I indent a task the parent task dates and durations change to
reflect the new task child. When I outdent the child task again
Project manages to get the old task dates(pre indent dates) for the ex
parent task and shows them. I just want to know where does project
store the old dates or duration of the parent task before the indent.

I have gone crazy trying to find out the field in which this is
stored, and will be very grateful if someone can help me out here

Thanks
Questaly

Aliasgar:

Project is calculating these each time you make the change. They aren't
stored.

Hi,

Thanks for responding. First let me rephrase the query to clear up any
misunderstanding. I have connected Project to a SQL database and I am
checking these values from there.

Step 1
I have two tasks Task 1 and Task 2, the project looks like
Task1
Task2
Both these tasks have different dates
These are stored in the SQL database.

Step 2
Now I go and indent the second task the project looks like
Task1
--Task2
Now in the database as far as I can tell both the tasks have the same
date, that is that the date and duration of Task 1 has been
overwritten.

Step 3
Now when I go and outdent task 2 again, the project looks like
Task1
Task2
Now project manages to get the old Task 1 dates back from somewhere, I
cant figure out where it stores the old dates before overwritting them
in step 2.

I am pretty sure that the old dates of Task 1 in step 2 are really
overwritten. If I try to outdent the task manually now I cant figure
out how to get the dates. You could try it out and see for yourself.

Ali.

Hi,

Thanks. It is the project start date.

However there is still the question of the old duration of the parent
task being stored someplace.

Where is the old duration of the task being stored before it changes
into a summary task. Anyone??

Thanks
