Open Access 97 database Stored on CD with Access 2003

Good morning:

I need to open an Access 97 database with Access 2003. The AC97 DB is
stored on a CD. AC2003 wants the DB to be opened on the hard drive for the
first time. The problem is that I have hundreds of cd's and some are quite
large. It's impractical to do so. Has anyone faced this issue. If so, how
have you resolved it. Thank you.

When you open a database for the first time in Access 2003,
Access adds some extra data to the database. Access 2003
can't use the file until that is done.

Most CD software won't let you open files on a CD in
read/write mode. I don't know enough about CD software
to know if ANY CD software will let you open a file in
read/write mode.

Access 2003 can't use the file until it has written
the new material into the database.
