Open file type WKS

I was given a file by a family member of type WKS
and I can't seem to open it with any of the Office
products. I'm not sure how or what application was
used to create it originally. Can someone help or
suggest a solution?

Asking the "family member" is probably better than asking strangers. A
..wks file could be a Microsoft Works spreadsheet file. .wks files
created with the last half dozen versions of Works cannot be opened in
Office... you'll need Works to open it.

Sounds like a file created in Microsoft Works. Office can open many if
not all Works files BUT! the converters are NOT installed in Office by
default, you'll have to install Office again, select the add/remove
components thingy (I don't remember the exact terms?) and look for
converters for MS Works. There may be additional converters on the MS
website to check there as well.
