I have created a linked table in access from excel. When I go to open the
table, or any of the queries created from it, I get a message saying "cannot
decrypt file". I discovered that if the excel file it is linked to is open
then I can open the access file.
I want to open the table and queries without having to have the excel file
open, this is why we created this in the first place. Only a limited number
of people have access to the original excel file, others need to view the
file and make updates to one column. Because of this I have password
protected the original file and only unlocked the necessary column.
Is there a way to create it so that the excel file does not need to be open
for the table and queries to run?
