I would like to restore the Open Office Document shortcut. If I can find the
folder containing the Office pages of templates, I can make the shortcut
etc. As it is, I"ve only found one folder worth one of the Office template
window tabs.

Does this help?

To create a shortcut to new office document:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE" -n
********************
To create a shortcut to open office document:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE" -f

It's probably called OSA9.exe (Office 2000) or OSA10.exe (Office XP) or
something similar. Search for osa*.exe.

Found it.
It doesn't do anything though.
I am looking for the window with tabs that you are sent to when you click on
New Office Document, which I deleted.

The Office-created entries in the Startup menu are shortcuts with special
properties. I don't know how to recreate the New Office Document entry
short of re-installing Office, but you can create a shortcut that provides
the same function as follows:

In Windows Explorer:
* Locate OSA9.exe (or whichever version you have). Right-click and select
Copy.
* Navigate into \Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu, right-click,
and select Paste Shortcut.
* Right-click on the new shortcut and select Properties.
*On the Shortcut tab, scroll to the end of the entry in the Target box and
append " -n" (space, dash, n). Do not type the quotes. The entries entry
will now resemple this:
"D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE" -n
* Click OK
* Rename the shortcut to New Office Document, or whatever you like.

The shortcut should now appear on the start menu as before, although the
icon will be different.

Depending on the version of Office you are using you can use Detect
and Repair (under Help in any of the Office apps) and there is an
option to recreate the Office shortcuts.

Some versions of Office will automatically recreate the Office
shortcuts when you use Detect and Repair.

Some versions of Office do not have the Detect and Repair feature.

Would be helpful to know the version of Office you are using. :)

I tried the OSA.exe -n and it worked! I now have the window with all the
tabs. Thank you.
