Opening .doc attachments from Entourage

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When I am trying to open a .doc I keep getting the same error message:

"PSF MANUAL 0707.doc uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version.

To help secure your computer, some file types are blocked from opening when you double-click the file or drag the file to the Microsoft Word icon. If you trust this file is secure, you can open the file by clicking OPEN on the File menu"

It opens, but the file is completely blank. When I forward the e-mail to my PC, I have no problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is your version of Office perfectly up to date?? You might try to use
the Help menu to launch the auto-updater and make sure...

If you drag and drop the file to the desktop, can you open it through a
double-click?? Can you if you drag it to the icon of Word in the Dock?

Tried both -

Can't drag it from the e-mail to the desktop, so I saved it there, just as it was.

Double clicked, got the error message. Tried to open, just opens to a blank document 1.

Tried dropping and dragging, no luck either.

Sent it to my PC and the file opens without a hitch.

It looks like a file with a bad type and creator code.
Can you open it in Text Edit??

Tried all that you mention above and I get the exact same problem as them. Downloading directly from the web works, but Entourage is screwing up attachments, somehow introducing bad code.
This is really bad.

Just to make sure...
- Office is perfectly up to date
- drag & dropping to the desktop, then double-clicking doesn't work
