Opening Files

I have Excel 2003 files saved to a floppy disk. They will not reopen. I get
an error message that says the files are unrecognizable, or possibly
read-only, etc. Checking the properties show the files as Excel Worksheets
and do not show any unusual settings checked. Any help on this?
