Opening Outlook backup cd

How do we open an outlook backup cd made on another computer? It shows on my CD drive but opens in Outlook as an attachment to an email. I don't want to import all the info to my computer...just verify that the emails etc. are there. Using Office 2003, windows xp, single user home office.

Copy the PST file to your hard drive and remove the read-only file
attribute. Outlook requires write access to PST files, even just to view
them.
