OT costs

So I need to track OT costs

What i am hoping to do is track regular time (8hrs a day) as well as be able
to see what it cost to have my employees workn overtime (time and a half). Is
there a way to track them seprate?? Our Management team would like to see the
two cost seprate.... any sugestions??

I sure if i set my regular "working time" to 8 hrs a day - any hrs i put in
for a day over 8hrs a day will be automatically calculated with the "overtime
rate" of pay.. right.

Hi Shawn,

I'm glad you're sure... I'm not at all.
Onluy time YOU enetr as Overtime Work will be valued per the overtime rate.
E,tezr 10 hours in Actual Work, for Project that are 10 hours at the normal
rate.
No subtracting 8 !

On the other hand, you haev access to a field called Overtime Cost so yey,
you can track them individually.
Hope this helps,

Hi Shawn,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #13 on Costs, at this site:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

In the Resources Usage view, right click in the cells and select Detail
Styles... Then select to show Cost, Actual Cost and Actual Overtime to see
these cells.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Cool so do you know i would view the "overtime cost"

we pretty much work 10hr days so 2 hrs will be OT.

I will set my working times to 8 hrs a day.

And i enterin for the most part 10hrs a day for Monday to Thursday and 8.5
for friday and Saterday.

What im hoping to see is the regular time cost as well as the OT cost. 40
hrs at regular time and 17 hrs at ot cost

Hi,

Would you care to read my previous post please?

Entering 10 hours as actual work does NOT generate any overtime work, thus
not overtime cost.
In any usage view, right click, detail styles, look for overtime work, click
show.
Now you can enter overtime work for the asignment (task/resource)
So YOU will have to enter 10 as actual work AND 2 as actual overtime work

Hope this helps,
