Out of Office assistant

I have a LAN with 50 users. I run microsoft Exchange 5.5
server. However I only use the exchange for internal mail
I do not use the Imail feature. I use an ISP for POP and
SMTP. The problem I have is when ever anyone in the office
uses the out of office assistant. It only works on our
LAN. The feature does not get reach anyone out side of the
office. Please let me know if anyone has run into this
problem before.

It's my understanding that you're going to have to use Exchange to handle
incoming and (especially) outgoing POP3 email to get the Out of Office
functionality outside. Users will get all of their email from Exchange then
rather than going through the ISP directly.

Exchange, by default, denies replies and forwards to the Internet. Also,
since you have Exchange set to only do internal mail, there is no transport
available to deliver any such messages, even if enabled on the IMS, to the
Internet.
