Outline an area in a picture

C

Chowder

I have a picture of a blueprint and I need to outline an area with a colored border that is transparent. I can add a colored transparent picture to highlight the area, but I can only figure out how to create a colored border that's opaque
Thanks.

What version Publisher?
Any shape you use can be transparent as long as you choose no fill. You can outline
areas with the line tool.

You can outline areas with the line tool.

But you can't have semitransparent borders, which I think is what Chowder
was trying to accomplish.

In Publisher 2003 you can, but I have not tried this in older versions. I
used this feature just the other day. Just go to the Line Color > More Line
Colors > Standard Tab > Move the Transparency scrollbar to your preference.

If this person has 2000, could he not add transparency in PhotoDraw? Even Paint will
allow transparency. Publisher maybe all things to all people, but some stuff is best
done in other applications.
I know the line shadow isn't the answer.

I agree Mary with your PhotoDraw scenario. FWIW, in Publisher 2000 you can
go to Insert > Picture > New Drawing > and then apply line/borders with
semitransparency as well. Note that the default is 50% transparent (i
believe), and that you don't have a an option to choose between 1-100%.
