Outlook 2000 ate my e-mail

In the process of setting up my Outlook to check my
network e-mail, I set up in such away that the information
was downloaded onto my laptop and not kept on the server.
I was able to solve the problem today. HOWEVER in the
process I have lost all e-mail residing in my inbox. When
I opened Outlook it was downloaded to my laptop however
when a reset the system I lost the e-mail that had come to
my laptop. I'm not sure where it is currently residing.
The personal folder that I had before has disappeared.
Please help.

What precisely do you mean by "reset the system"?

Did you login differently? (change domain, workgroup, etc..)
