Outlook 2000 Inbox View Doesn't Update

Mark Willis

hi there

I am running Outlook 2000 on Windows XP Home Edition over
an office LAN and my Inbox Window view doesn't update
correctly when new emails come in. I have to click on a
different folder and then click back to the Inbox folder
to refresh the Window View.

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

regards

Your problem is that the UDP packets that Exchange sends to Outlook to
notify it of changes are being blocked before they reach Outlook. Have your
network administrator check
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;815052, as it may be
the problem. If that's not it, firewalls, routers, etc. may be blocking the
packets. As a last resort, you can make the registry changes in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304849 to cause
Outlook to poll Exchange for changes rather than wait for notifications of
changes.

ok, I've found a fix for this:

Start / Control Panel / Network and Internet
Connections / Network Connections

Then clicked on my LAN connection, then right click /
Properties

Clicked on the Advanced tab. Unticked the Internet
Connection Firewall option.

And hey presto, it worked!

Hope this helps someone else. Looks like a bug with
Microsoft's firewall...
