Outlook 2000 - MS Exchange 4.5 -- Help!!

This seems to happen periodically (for no apparent reason). My outside
laptop users will not be able to connect to Exchange server... Once in a
while, re-booting server will "fix" it - but not this time.

Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

(I meant to say "exchange 5.5") -- I also restarted our sonic firewall...
and when I ping server, the server doesn't respond.

I'm probably getting in over my head - I need advice. I'm hoping to avoid
having someone come in to fix.
