Outlook 2000 stopped receiving emails

I previously posted a similar question (but it has disappapeared) and the
only answer I got, which appeared good did not solve the issue)

My problem is that I ran a registry cleaner/fixer (XP Repair Pro 2007) but
after doing so Outlook 2000 would no longer receive emails (never got round
to trying to send). I got an error message saying accounts not properly
registered reinstall and reference 0x80040154. I have tried to install new
accounts via 'Mail' in control panel etc but that does not work in Outlook
2000. If I do the same in Outlook express then the accounts do set up and
work!!

Any help appreciated.

Restore the registry from the back up you made prior to running the
"cleaner".

Thanks, I have already done that using system restore. What I need is to know
how to overcome this permanently - my registry is in need of a clean up and I
do not want to think I have wasted my money buying XP Repair Pro 2007.
