Outlook 2001 on OS 10.3 unable to send emails

We just recently ordered a G5 with OS 10.3 on it and while setting it
up for the user, we found out that Outlook 2001 will receive emails but
we are unable to send or reply to messages.

I've tried to add the Contacts information to be able to use them when
replying but I do not get the option to select this. I've gone into the
Outlook Settings and the Global Address list is showing in the area to
check for addresses when sending emails but when I look at the same
information when I have Outlook 2001 open, this area is greyed out.
I've removed Outlook 2001 a few times and reinstalled it. I've also
tried a different profile for Outlook to see if that would help - still
the same problem. I've also attempted to install an older version of
Outlook but that will not even start up.

We are currently running Exchange Server 5.5 so this is our only option
until we can convert over to Exchange 2003 in a few months. At that
point we will be moving everyone over to Entourage 2004. We have 4
other G5 Macs running OS 10.3 and they have not had any problems. Those
Macs were purchased at a different time.

If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Beth!

I don't have a solution for you but have you tested if this problem is
localized to the G5 or to the user account? Can someone else's account
be set up on the problem G5 and does it work properly? If so then the
problem is more likely with the account on the server and not the Mac
itself.

Hi

We are having the very same problem - others are having the same problem
too. Go to a thread called 'Outlook 2001 with Tiger' (I found it by doing a
search on the word global within outlook.mac).

Sounds like this is quite an issue...

Any ideas of a fix?

Thanks

Alex.
