Outlook 2002 Data Files

J

johnbu

I backed up my outlook files and moved them to another
computer. I reloaded a new OS on my original machine and
would like to restore my original data files (.pst).
Every time, I try to import the file, I get the following
error "File access is denied. You do not have the
permission required to access the file ...."

I am a user with administrative privledges. Any ideas?

Do NOT import the file!!!!!

If the file is on a CD or other media, copy it to the hard drive and remove
the read-only check mark from its properties. Then use Outlook's
File->Open->Outlook Data File to open the .pst.

Importing a native file into Outlook causes all kinds of headaches - losing
received dates, custom forms lost, connections between contacts and
activities broken, etc.

Importing is for converting a file of another type (.csv, .txt, OE, etc.) to
Outlook.
