outlook 2002 notification

I have one computer with outlook 2002 it run on xp home pop3 accounts. it
will not alert me to new mail. i have e-mail notifcation option selected and
it works when outlook is runing sent/recere. but i dont no if i have e-mail
untill i run outlook. i am using broadband internet with a cable modam can
you help thanks robin.

Outlook must be open in order to function. You can install a third party
notification tool that will open a stub of Outlook in order to check for
mail and reminders. See this page for some suggestions:

account will be deleted without reading.
