Outlook 2003 and Archive folder

B

Brian Healy

A few weeks ago I got the following message when I tried
to access a message in my Archive folder in Outlook
2003...
Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not
access the specified folder location. The file
C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst
could not be accessed.

I did a search on archive.pst and it came up with 2 files
called that, one of which was coloured blue (as in an
internet link). I tried to open this one and the program
seized up and had to be ended. When I tried to open the
other file it opened with computer gobbledeegook both
when I tried to open in Outlook and also in Word. I am
stumped now. I ran a program called scanpst.exe on the
file and it said there was nothing wrong with it. Could
someone please help as I really need to find an email
that I archived.
regards
Brian

As u will see from my oroginal post, I did run scanpst on
the archive folder but it came back with nothing being
wrong with it, so why when I try to open it does it come
up with gobledegook? Am I trying to open it in the wrong
program? I tried in both Outlook and Word.

I am sorry that I am not making myself clear but I did
run scanpst on the two archive.pst files that came up
when I did a file search but one of them came up with the
result that there was nothing wrong with the file and the
other just hung, so I tried to open the first one with
both Outlook and Word and,in Word I just got those
computer figures (gobledegook) and in Outlook it came up
as an email message with an attachment called archive.pst
which I couldn't open. Pls could you help me in words of
one sylable!

In Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse to the archive.pst,
select it, and click OK. That will open the file as it was intended to be
open.
