Outlook 2003 and Hotmail

Eric Jeppesen

It's always the simplest things that are the hardest to find. I'm trying to set up my daughters Outlook 2003 to automatically download her email from Hotmail. She's trying to avoid the 10 MB limit, and still keep those many, many emails on her hard drive. Please, anyone, point me in the right direction.
Thanks

You'll need to set up a HTTP account - and she'll need to move messages to
her Personal Folders store to stay under the 10 meg limit. MSN premium now
supports POP3, but free accounts do not.

Diane - thanks - that explains why I could do it at work and she has to do it manually.

it really sad, i can use outlook express to get into Hotmail it do work!! but
can't use Outlook 2003 sounds more like crap to me then saying you can't get
into free account at all when Express outlook can get the free hotmail.com
e-mail accounts uploaded without any errors at all.

ref; "supports POP3, but free accounts do not". sorry this is a lie you can
use "express outlook" to get it.

only outlook 2003 is not complet software if it was you can use hotmail. ask
me the techs were to lazy to get it working right for MSN-hotmail accounts

the tech were lazy on making MS-Office Outlook 2003 bottom line. the program
can't even import e-mail account from express outlook at all.

If the hotmail account works in OE, then something else is wrong. What error
messages do you get?

As for your accusation that I'm lying about hotmail support - see

I read somewhere - cannot recall where - that this problem is an issue with
OE 6 and Windows XP SP2 (done on purpose), although within the next few
months it will begin to effect all versions of Windows (eg, you won't be
able to use OE to check a free Hotmail account).

I use a neat little for Yahoo called YahooPOPS -
http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/. Is there a similar tool (which
essentially emulates a POP server for a webmail account) for Hotmail?

1.) Express outlook working 100% with hotmail.
2.) MS-Office outlook 2003 crash as soon as i try to open e-mail from hotmail:
Link error report what there to see:
http://bb.domaindlx.com/ADFP/SS/error_outlook2003.jpg

for the details Mircosoft has the full detail on the error. but they have
not done no then about it. start thinking the don't care at all about their
products.

maybe one hand don't know what the other hand is doing.

with outlook express i can get my e-mail and read them all without error
only it not a smart thing to do when you have outlook 2003 better option to
use and hotmail is not blocking outlook express at all. with free hotmail
account.

sorry Diane for bashing you but it sound backward to me when one work and
the other don't work 100% at all on a free account

Click on the link to see what data it contains - we need to know which
module is causing it. (You can also look in Event viewer for the error -
click the copy button to get the text of the error.)

Two files often cause problems - outcmd.dat and *.srs found in C:\Documents
and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily
access it by pasting %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the
Address bar of your browser or Windows Explorer.

Rename outcmd.dat to outcmd.dat_ and delete the *.srs files. If neither
helps, we'll need to see the error text.
