Outlook 2003 "not responding"

I have a brand new computer with XP and Microsoft Office
2003. I am able to download my e-mails, but Outlook
freezes when I try to read them and I get the
message "Program not responding"

I hope someone can help me

Have you tried detect and repair through the help menu?
