| ISSUE:
| =========
| I cannot Send/Receive email in Outlook 2003. The Send/Receive menu
| item is not in the Tools menu and there is not a Send/Receive
| "button" on the toolbar (I have all of the toolbars visible).
|
| When I first load Outlook, the Send/Receive button is visible for
| about 2 seconds and then disappears. I have unistalled and
| reinstalled OL 2003 with no luck.
|
| Any ideas?
|
| Resolution:
| ====================
| Please perform the
| following steps to troubleshoot the problem:
| 1. Open Outlook
| 2. Click Tools->Customize->Commands
| 3. Select Tools from Categories list
| 4. Select "Send/Receive" form Commands list
| 5. Drag the "Send/Receive" to the toolbars(you can see the screenshot
| in attachment
| for more details)
| If the above steps do not help, I would like to collect the following
| information.
| We need some time to narrow down the problem. Let's try the following
| steps to
| troubleshoot the issue:
| Error message screenshot
| =======================
| If you receive any error message during the process, please capture a
| screenshot on
| the error message and send the screenshot to me.
| To get a screenshot:
| (a) When the screen appears, press the Print Screen key several times,
| which is to
| the right of the F12 key on the keyboard.
| (b) Open Paint or Microsoft Word or WordPad.
| (c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
| (d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it to a file and to send it to me
| as attachments.
| Start Outlook "safe" mode
| =======================
| We can start Outlook with the "safe" switch to see if it works. Please
| follow the
| steps below:
| 1. On the Start menu, click Run.
| 2. Input "Outlook.exe /safe" (without the quotation marks) and click
| OK. Note: There is a space between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
| Now please test the issue and let me know the results. If the issue
| still exists,
| please refer to the following step.
| Create a new profile
| =======================
| A corrupted profile may cause this problem, so please use the
| following steps to
| create a new profile.
| 1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
| 2. If Control Panel is not in Classic View, click Switch to Classic
| View, and then
| click the Mail icon.
| 3. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click the Show Profiles button.
| 4. On the General tab, click to select the "Prompt for a profile to be
| used" check
| box.
| 5. Click Add.
| 6. In the Profile Name box, type a descriptive name for the new
| profile, and then
| click OK.
| 7. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click "Add a new e-mail
| account", and then
| click Next.
| 8. Configure your email account according to the instructions.
| 9. Click OK.
