Unless you purchased "software assurance" with Office XP,
Office 2003 is not a free upgrade.

If you purchased Microsoft Office XP after 16 August 2003 (I *believe*
that's the proper date), you are eligible for a free upgrade to Office
2003. If you purchased it before that date, you can purchase the
upgrade version of Office 2003 at a substantial savings.
