outlook 2003

My outlook 2003 freezes whenever I change the signature and when I change any
task from in progress to completed. The problem seems to be with drop-down
lists. The list in both occurences will drop down but when I select an option
on the list outlook freezes for a few seconds then gives the "an error has
ocurred do you want to send to microsoft etc". I have uninstalled office,
deleted the ms office folder under program files and deleted office under
software\microsoft in HKLM, HKCU and .default.

All of which will have little affect on OL settings, try a search for
outcmd.dat, a hidden file, and delete or rename outcmd.old

I have deleted the file but this made no difference. I then even deleted the
file and detect and repaired outlook. still no difference.
