Outlook 2007 - Exchange server unavailable on 1 of 2 almost identical systems

Hi,

I have 2 Windows 7 systems, one native, one virtual running on Linux, on the
same machine. I configured both to access an Exchange server. On the native
system, everything works (or almost everything). However on the virtual
system, with an identical configuration (more precisely, I tried several
account configurations), some things just give an error that the Exchange
server isn't available. However it is, since
a) basic stuff works on the virtual system (sending/receiving mail for
example)
b) the same config works on a native system

Things that don't work on the virtual system are:
- saving a calendar entry
- selecting import/export from the file menu
- accessing the global address list (this one doesn't work natively either)
- creating a new contact and saving it

Both systems run Outlook 2007 SP2, and I have no access to the Exchange
server admin interface. The connection itself is RPC over HTTP going through
an Exchange proxy.

Oh, and on the Outlook Web Access interface, everything works, even the
Global Address List...

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Viktor

One additional thing:
on the virtual system only, I tell it every time to remember my password,
but it simply ignores my choice and asks for the password every time I
connect.

Yes, if I try non-cached, Outlook can't even log on (or at least it tells me
something like that). It's installed with the exact same features. Firewall:
only the default windows firewall, but disabling it didn't help either.
However at the Exchange server's domain there is a firewall for sure, and
I'm starting to blame that however I can't access the config of that one.
Now I deleted the VM and reinstalled an XP VM with all updates, and it can't
even set up the account that the other, almost identical VM could do. On my
native Win7, everything's still ok (except the global address list).

Are you using cached mode? Is Outlook installed with the exact same
features? Are you using a firewall?

I can tell it to ask for login info, but since everything's encrypted (and
gets packed in to HTTP on top of that), I can't see what login process is
really going on, not with Wireshark either. Whether I enter my user/pass or
not, it's not working. I'm using the DOMAIN\user form for login (the same
works on the native Win7).
On the native Win7, there are no sites in the trusted domain, and I can only
add a site, not a whole domain. Same on the new XP VM I talked about in the
previous post.

Is the VM logging into the network the exchange server is on? Is the
domain added to the Internet options Trusted list?
