Outlook 2007 won't work

a box comes up and says the following:

configuring outlook

migrating account settings
migrating account preferences
importing user data

well it hangs up at migrting account settings and does not respond from there.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled, left the box open for 15 minutes and
have no idea how to get around this so i can use outlook.
