Outlook Cannot Open Item error when hit send/receive button

I have MS OUtlook 2002 on my laptop. I had to reinstall windows on my machine
recently. I have set up outlook to receive my hotmail email. When I hit the
send receive button on my machine, the following error message pops up
"Cannot Open Item. Try Again"

please advise
