Outlook double downloading

Running Outlook 2002 on Home edition XP.
Updated office with update for office March 2004
Problem - Outlook downloads double emails each time it is
connected to the mail program. Any one have a fix for
this problem? Contacted carrier and they said it is a
Microsoft problem. Thanks
