Outlook, Exchange Servers, and Contact Lists

S

Shane

Greetings,
I'm using Outlook 2003 (sp2) on an exchange server.
I like to pull all messages from the server, and have set up rules to they
come in automatically. I'm used to running all 'local' information.

I also have it set up so that when I send an e-mail, the 'send to' address
is saved somewhere. It's not on my contact list when I go there, but if I
start typing one, it will auto-fill.

Our company recently updated their mail servers (or some such) and suddenly
I find that if I start typing an e-mail address, and Outlook auto-fills..
then locks up and must be Forced Quit. The IT guy appears both not happy
about the changes they made and unwilling/unable to fix the problem (Many of
us seem to be having the problem).

If I open an e-mail, click the "To" button and add from the Global (Company
wide) contacts list, I'm fine.

If I open an e-mail, click the "To" button and add from my personal contacts
list, I'm fine.

If I open an e-mail and start typing in an e-mail address that is ON my
contact list, it auto-fills and I'm fine.

If I open an e-mail and start typing in an e-mail address that I've sent to
before but it NOT on my contact list, it auto-fills and we lock up.

So, that leaves me with a few questions.

First, how did I set up to save those addresses automatically? I can't find
it anywhere!

Second, are contact lists in Exchange 'local and unshared/personal' or 'on
the server and unshared/personal' ?

Third, can I set up a contact list that is truly local, like all the e-mail
folders I use??

Thanks,

Shane
