outlook express attachments

I'm not able to open any attachments that come to my
outlook express inbox. They're there ok, but when I click
to open them or save them, nothing happens (apart from a
small 'freeze').
I'm running OUtlook Express 6 and Windows XP.
Any suggestions anyone?
